Cream of Tretinoin USP Tretin 0.05% Cream is meant to be applied on the skin surface for the purpose of treating acne. Tretinoin is able to accelerate the rate of skin cell turnover in order to prevent dead cells from accumulating in the pores. Such activity will cause a gradual reduction of all existing lesions and prevention of any future acne breakouts.The 0.05% strength of this medication is meant to be applied externally according to instructions from a dermatologist. The patient may observe that any changes on his/her skin will be gradual and at first there will be a flare-up of the acne condition. Excessive application will not hasten the healing process.
Dryness, peeling, redness, warmth, burning sensation or tingling sensations may occur particularly during the first phase of the treatment. Not recommended for application to the eyes, mouth, broken skin or other sensitive areas. Scrubbing and irritants such as harsh exfoliating agents and skin care products may worsen your skin irritation when used along with tretinoin.The risk of skin sensitivity as a result of sun exposure will be higher during the use of tretinoin. Use of proper sunscreen is advised during this treatment course. Women who are pregnant or lactating should seek medical advice before using tretinoin.
How to use
- Gently cleanse the affected skin in the evening and allow it to dry completely before applying the cream.
- Use a pea-sized amount and spread a light, even layer across the acne-prone area once daily at bedtime.
- Avoid applying it near the eyes, lips, nose corners, cuts, sunburned skin or irritated areas. Wash your hands afterward.
- Use a gentle moisturiser to manage dryness and apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning. Applying extra cream will not improve results faster and may increase irritation.
