Overview
Clobetasol Cream IP 0.05% w/w 30g is an over-the-counter topical corticosteroid preparation which is applied for inflammatory and pruritic skin diseases. The mechanism of action of the medicine involves reduction of inflammation of the skin, which leads to the improvement of the symptoms of the disease (redness, inflammation, itching, scaling, irritation). Clobetasol-based medications can be used for treatment of such skin diseases as eczema, psoriasis, and other types of dermatitis sensitive to corticosteroids.
One should remember that because of the high efficacy of the medicine as a corticosteroid, the drug can be taken only after consulting a doctor. Generally speaking, the preparation cannot be used for the following parts of the body: face, groin, armpits, damaged skin and area of infection unless prescribed by a doctor. Prolonged use of the drug can result in such adverse effects as skin thinning and systemic adverse effects of corticosteroids.
The preparation is only for topical administration. It is recommended that users check the contents of the product, expiration date, storage conditions and directions for use.
How to use
- The skin should be clean and dry prior to application of the cream.
- The application of the cream in a thin layer may be done one or two times a day.
- It is advisable to wash hands after application. It should not be applied on the eyes, face, groin, injured skin, and covered area.
