Overview
This topical gel is specifically indicated for the treatment of acne skin. Azelaic acid acts on the bacterial agents of acne and controls the production of keratin. By proper application and use under medical supervision, it may help treat redness and inflammation of pimples, whiteheads, blackheads, and skin swelling.
The gel preparation has a light texture which suits oily and mixed types of skin. Only clean and dry skin should be treated with the gel following the instructions for its use. Overuse and higher doses do not make the treatment more effective and can cause skin irritation.
Short-term burning sensation, pain, itching, peeling and reddening of skin can occur especially during initial use or after application on irritated skin. Do not apply the gel on your eyes, mouth, damaged skin or other delicate skin areas. Scrubs, harsh cleansing agents and excessive number of irritating acne treatments can increase irritation of skin.
How to use
- First, clean the affected area using a mild soap and dry the area thoroughly.
- Then apply the medication in a thin layer to the affected area one or two times per day.
- Do not apply the medication near the eyes, mouth and any open cuts. When you are outdoors during the daytime, wear sunscreen.
