The composition of Benoquin Monobenzone Cream USP 40% is monobenzone, which is an effective depigmentation agent working on the pigmented cells of the skin. As per the medical publications, the use of the monobenzone at concentration ranges from 20% to 40% has been done for achieving the permanent depigmentation of the patients suffering from extensive vitiligo. Depigmentation can even happen out of the area treated with this cream, and it can be irreversible too. There can be some side effects like redness, irritation, burning sensation, contact dermatitis, and increased sensitivity to sunlight.
How to use
- Wash the treatment area gently and allow the skin to dry before applying the cream.
- Spread a very small amount in a thin layer only over the areas specified in the prescription. Wash your hands immediately afterward.
- Prevent the cream from touching the eyes, lips, cuts and untreated skin, as monobenzone can cause uneven and permanent loss of skin pigment.
- Protect the treated area from sunlight with broad-spectrum sunscreen and suitable clothing. Stop application and obtain medical advice if severe redness, burning, swelling or a rash occurs.
